r271 blocked on K4-actor/grade/principal claude-patched: W4's wait matched MARK-K4-claude-patched-W4 in the seat's planned line ("…I'll print its answer when it returns, then MARK-…", resume transcript line 94) while its background Agent ran, and k4_kill ended the seat before the put (leader ruling (p): harness).

  • k4_wait_act: a subagent's write (TUI W4, -p W3) ends when its record exists in the user's root, or the subagent's answer is in the seat's transcript; then cp + kill, or the 300 s timeout as before.
  • transcript.py sub-answer: the Agent call's result, never a background launch's async_launched notice, or the <task-notification> naming the call's tool-use-id.
  • Own writes (W1–W3) keep the mark wait. No installer file touched.

Gate (replay of r271/r270 transcripts cut at every line, captured roots; ~/.local/share/ucc/work/379d2e5a/k4w4-replay/{replay.sh,replay.out} on devstation):

  • r271 claude-patched W4 (no w4 record): old wait ends at line 94 of 97, new never.
  • Pass cases on their record: r270 claude-patched W4, r270/r271 stock-tui W4, r270/r271 stock-p W3: new ends on the record.
  • Same transcripts, record withheld: new ends at the completion notice (r270 patched 100, stock-tui 100/100, stock-p 83/84), before the mark (106/111/92/93), never at the launch notice.
  • bash -n rounds/k4.sh, py_compile rounds/lib/transcript.py: ok.

r271 K4 claude-patched W4: the seat answered "The subagent is running in the
background; I'll print its answer when it returns, then
MARK-K4-claude-patched-W4" while its background Agent ran; wait_text matched
the mark in that planned line and k4_kill ended the seat before the W4 put, so
K4-actor/grade/principal read fail on a write that never ran.

k4_wait_act ends a subagent's write (TUI W4, -p W3) when the record exists in
the user's root, or when the subagent's answer is in the seat's transcript:
transcript.py sub-answer reads the Agent call's result (never a background
launch's async_launched notice) or the task-notification naming the call's
tool-use-id. A seat's own write (W1-W3) keeps its mark wait.
This branch is already included in the target branch. There is nothing to merge.
